Kids Create with Kait

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh Welcomes Kait for Paint Night

This week Kait got to host a paint night at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh where over 20 parents and children came to take part in the colorful evening!

We saw dragons, cats, trees, and snowflakes just to name a few of the awesome paintings that were created. It was wonderful to see so many smiles and hear so much laughter in the room! Kait can't wait to host another paint night for them in the future!

Kait Live Paints for the PBT

For the second year in a row, Kait was given the opportunity to live paint for the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre's annual fundraising gala!

Days before the gala, Kait met with her ballerina model to discuss poses and costumes the dancer would be using at the event to help Kait get a jump start on her painting. Kait used the lavender door to the ballet studio as inspiration for the painting's color scheme.

The painting went to auction at the end of the event with proceeds going to raise scholarship funds for the PBT. In total, the entire gala was able to raise more than $553,000 for the organization!

SURPRISE! Happy Birthday to Mayor Peduto and the City of Pittsburgh!

Something that was only months in the making, somehow still felt like a lifetime to build up to this moment. I count and thank my lucky stars for every opportunity that is offered to me and this one is one of my proudest. Not only was I asked to create a painting to commemorate the city of Pittsburgh's 200th anniversary, but also a surprise birthday gift to Pittsburgh's Mayor Bill Peduto.

We went back and forth for months on what exactly to paint, what the painting will be for, and what to do with it in the end. There were countless ideas, but we wanted it to be a perfect fit for the bicentennial and the celebration. When we found out that Mayor Peduto loved a picture of former Pittsburgh Mayor David L. Lawrence, we knew it was not only exactly what needed to be painted, but it would be fantastic to have it as a surprise birthday gift for the mayor. As an added bonus, it was also the 50th anniversary of David L. Lawrence's death on November 21 during the Pittsburgh Bicentennial year. It all aligned like as if it was meant to be.

The painting was done in oil paint and is 3ftx 4ft large. And coming from someone who's only 5'2 that's a big painting. On October 31st, a day after Mayor Peduto's birthday, the mayor's staff helped arrange and organize a surprise party and a private unveiling of the painting in city hall. Needless to say Bill was extremely surprised and loves the painting. Just in case you were wondering lol. HUGE thank you to the Mayor's staff for going out of their way, believing in me, and being a backbone of support of my dreams. Words cant express how proud I am to create a painting to celebrate the city I love. Happy birthday Bill and happy birthday Pittsburgh!

Game Changer Gala

Kait Schoeb With Her Painting "Blue Steel" Before Auction

As you read in the previous blog post I had the pleasure of creating artwork and attending the Game Changer and Mike Ditka Day Celebration Gala in honor of the Save Jon Foundation.  This year the Game Changer Gala was held July 30th at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pa. Coach Ditka along with multiple doctors and founding members, Dr. Lisa Boyette and Dr. Dietrich Stephan serve as executive and active board members to serve Save Jon's mission. Throughout the evening aligned a ray of entertainment with everyone suited in their tux and gowns. Throughout the course of dinner were speeches by multiple PSC survivors and activists including Jamie Redford, Dr. Coach Mike Ditka, and performances by Broadway singers.

After dinner there was a live auction that was held along with my painting "Blue Steel" to help raise funds for Save Jon. Although the original painting is being loved in a great home, prints are available for sale in my store section found here.  Each print sold is going to raise proceeds to the Save Jon organization. At the Gala I had the pleasure of meeting Coach Ditka who serves on the board of Save Jon in honor of his friend Walter Payton who passed away from PSC. One of this year's honoree's and former Steeler Jahine Arnold also suffers with PSC disease. He was unable to attend the event, but fortunately it was due to good reason because he had received a successful liver transplant just a week before the gala. I'm very honored to have been asked to donate my work, and proud to help raise money for Save Jon and help spread their message.
