Mr. Rogers Makes TV Debut!

Watch the Mr. Rogers Chair Be Discussed on Pittsburgh's KDKA Morning Show!

I was very very excited when I was told that my Mr. Rogers chair that I had painted for "The Cradle Will Rock" charity event was going to be brought on KDKA's "Pittsburgh Today Live" show and discussed. I was also completely psyched that I finally had a video to be able to post to the public instead of the same old blog posts with just pictures. In the video, two board members of "The Twenty-Five Club" discuss my Mr. Rogers chair as well as other artists work and details about the Gala being held November 1. Definitely a surreal but excited feeling seeing your stuff and hearing your name on TV! The chairs will be auctioned off for neo natal funds this up coming Saturday which I will be attending!

As of this past July, I have been fortunate to make personal connections and display my artwork at Sewickley Gallery and Frame Shop in Sewickley, Pa. If you happen to be in the area, you will be able to see my original oil paintings and the original "Pots and Pans" that was also displayed in the U. S Capitol Building. Don't be shy! Go inside and take a look at other artists work. If you're looking for beautiful, custom to your order framing for your treasured pictures or paintings I suggest you go to Sewickley Gallery. Make sure you ask for the owner Mark and tell him Kait sent you! He's incredibly nice and hands on with helping you find the right frame to make your piece even more special. And when you're done there take a stroll around the beautiful town and check out their local shops. Might I suggest the ice cream shop : )

Time and Transformation!

See the Exciting Transformation of the Oil Painting " Shady" from Start to Finish!

"SHADY" FINAL  COMPLETED PIECE (ABOVE)                           Oil on Canvas, 20" by 15"

One of my favorite parts of painting, besides the final result, is to see the transformation photos of the progress throughout the painting process. In today's blog post, you will get to see the start of the painting "Shady" from the sketch on the canvas to the final piece - and every step in between. As with every painting I do, after sketching the image onto the canvas the next step is for me to "color block." Color blocking is a term for quickly coloring and filling in the image with solid colors. I like to think of color blocking as my map to help me guide my way of knowing what piece is what to my "painting puzzle." As you will see from the progression photos, I also like to paint section by section. The traditional way to paint is to paint the entire canvas completely layer by layer, but I guess we all have our ways of doing things differently. I feel painting section by section with full detail makes me feel like I'm accomplishing more faster. I hope you enjoy the painting process and get inspired seeing the house being "built" brick by brick!
