Keeping Up With Kait!

Read About Kait's Art Show at Chromos, her new position as the Pittsburgh Society of Artists Members Chair and an upcoming feature in Pittsburgh's Local  Mazagine!

So I must say that fall has always been my favorite season and career wise it's shaping up to be an even better one! I still have a few projects in the works, but recently I've been able to make a few new and exciting announcements in my growing career.  Before I make my announcement I'd like to thank everyone who came out to my art show at Chromos Eyewear in Lawrenceville . I had a great time and loved getting to meet new people. In case you missed the show you can still view all of my original works until December.  (5166 Butler St. Pittsburgh Pa 15201)

At the show I did a live painting that would be auctioned off and all proceeds will go to "Chromos Cares" that will help benefit children in our local public schools that are in need of new glasses and eye exams. I decided to paint a mini Paul McCartney and thought it would be a great time to experiment. I didn't have a whole lot of time to paint since I was talking to people coming in to see the show so I did a quicker style. This time around while I had the opportunity I wanted to use different colors than what would not be normally used in my realistic style. When I first started painting Paul with the different colors I was thinking in my mind "Oh no. What am I doing? This does not look good at all." I kept shaping his face and as I put more colors in the piece it really started to come together. I honestly love the way it turned out and want to keep experimenting with this style. What you can't see from the photo is the "black" is actually more of a dark purple and the highlights in his eyes are turquoise. I'll get better pictures next time!

So now it gives me great pleasure to share with you a few announcements that have been in the making for a couple months now. My first announcement I'd like to say is I have been accepted as one of the newest board members for Pittsburgh Society of Artists. I'm really looking forward to my position on the board and reaching out and helping out my local artists. http://pittsburghsocietyofartists.org/

My second announcement is I will have a featured article about myself and my artwork in LOCAL magazine for their December issue! Super excited and make sure you pick up your copy if you're in the Pittsburgh area.  http://local-pittsburgh.com/

And last but certainly not least I can proudly say I will be the featured artist at this year's Pittsburgh Ballet Theater annual "A Pointe in Time Ball". Held as one of the top black tie events of the year, this year's play will be Swan Lake. I will be live painting during cocktail hour with a few of the dancers dancing in front of me as my painting references. PBT's signature event draws in 500 guests for fine dining and beautiful performances by world class artists. Words cant describe how ecstatic and grateful I am to be asked to paint for this event. In addition to me live painting at the event I will also have a smaller painting that will be for auction as well that will benefit Pittsburgh Ballet's scholarships. Thank you Pittsburgh for such a great fall season!
