FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are Giclee Prints?
Giclée prints are large format reproductions made from original art or photographs printed on a variety of media, including watercolor paper, 100% cotton canvas, photographic paper, or other material. The making of a Gicleé print involves taking the artist's original work, scanning it, and recreating it in print form. This type of art reproduction is becoming the new standard in the art industry, and is widely embraced for its quality by major museums, galleries, artists, publishers, and photographers. A Giclée print is quite simply the closest replication of an original Artwork that is currently possible.
How should I care for my Giclée Print?
Giclée prints should not be displayed in direct sunlight. They also should be displayed in a dry environment and kept away from moisture. If a Giclée print becomes wet, it may run, fade or become damaged. All original works, including commission pieces, made by Kait Schoeb are sprayed with a moisture-resistant protective coating which also protects against sunlight, dirt, smoke damage and helps preserve the painting. Giclée prints do not have this coating and are not treated, and must be well cared for.
What is the difference between a canvas Giclée print and a paper Giclée print?
A Gicleé print on Canvas is as close to a replica of a canvas painting as is possible, and has a canvas texture. All giclée prints on canvas are hand-stretched and wired for hanging by the artist and are not framed. A Paper Giclée print is a replica of an original work printed onto high quality paper. A paper Giclée print can be ordered with matting or without matting. A paper Giclée print, matted or unmatted, are made to be put behind glass and into a frame.
